How Atlas works.
What it is not.

Last updated: May 2026

Atlas is a private, browser-based planning tool for separated parents. This page covers how your data is handled, what Atlas is not, and the terms that apply to your use of the tool and this website.

Your data stays in your browser

Everything you enter into Atlas — budgets, child support figures, kids week details, goals, notes — is stored locally in your browser only. It never leaves your device. There is no server receiving your data, no database storing your numbers, and no third party with access to anything you enter.

This is intentional. Separation involves some of the most sensitive financial and personal information a person handles. Atlas is built so that no one else can access it.

Important: because your data is stored locally, clearing your browser data, switching devices, or using a private/incognito window will remove it. Atlas does not back up or sync your data across devices. If you need to preserve your work, export or print the relevant pages.

Not legal advice

Important disclaimer Nothing on this website or in the Atlas tool constitutes legal advice. Atlas is an organisational tool, not a legal service. Do not rely on anything here as a substitute for advice from a qualified family lawyer.

Family law is complex, jurisdiction-specific, and highly dependent on individual circumstances. Matters involving parenting arrangements, property settlement, consent orders, binding financial agreements, and divorce proceedings require qualified legal advice from a practising Australian lawyer.

Atlas helps you understand your situation and organise your thinking. It does not help you draft legal documents, assess your legal rights, or determine what a court would decide.

Not financial advice

Important disclaimer Nothing on this website or in the Atlas tool constitutes financial advice. Atlas is a planning tool, not a financial service. Do not make significant financial decisions based solely on figures generated here.

Separation involves significant financial complexity — superannuation splitting, property valuations, capital gains implications, Centrelink entitlements, and two-household budgeting. Atlas gives you a clearer picture of your numbers. It does not replace a financial advisor, accountant, or mortgage broker.

The child support calculations in Atlas use formulas published by Services Australia and are provided as estimates only. The official child support assessment from Services Australia is the only figure that legally applies to your situation.

What Atlas is not

To be clear about scope:

Atlas is not a co-parenting app. It does not require both parents to have an account or share information. It is designed for individual, private use.

Atlas is not a document storage system. Do not use it as the primary storage location for legal documents, court orders, or financial records.

Atlas is not a legal portal. It has no connection to the Federal Circuit and Family Court, Services Australia, the ATO, or any government body.

Atlas is not a therapy or counselling service. If you are experiencing mental health difficulties, contact your GP, Lifeline (13 11 14), or Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636).
